The downhill skiers have returned home. Part two of Adolf Winkelmann's Ruhr trilogy begins underground. Where the coal pot is hollow and black. From a depth of 1,000 meters, Katlewski emerges and no one knows where he comes from. He has no luggage with him—he doesn't need any. Katlewski has come to settle the score. First he chickened out, now he wants to get tough. In a high-rise building on the twelfth floor, a girl named Uli lives as a subtenant. She has already packed her suitcase in case she decides she's had enough. Uli realizes that she can run away with Katlewski for the time being. And that's exactly what happens. She lends Katlewski her bed and he gets hold of a saw. Katlewski's bill is long. He needs a lot of money, and it's not lying around on the street. Especially not in the coal mining region. But Katlewski is resourceful. He gets the money his way. So the day comes when the saw saws. Katlewski makes his cut. Even the bank gets its loan back. He doesn't want it anymore. Katlewski, who showed up dirty, disappears clean again. But upstairs, the trash is lying in the elevators and rust is eating away at the cars.
